Fundraising Projects for 2017
Historic Vessel Restoration
The Museum has a number of historic vessels and an active small boat restoration program. Restoration teams are currently working on restoring the Crest and Kingfisher, both locally built fishing boats. All of the vessels are included on the Australian Register of Historic Vessels managed by the Australian National Maritime Museum.
The Collection Acquisitions fund is aimed at providing an opportunity for the museum to collect objects which may only be available through auctions or sale and are important pieces to support or add to the meaning and interpretation of our permanent collection. The Collections Acquisition fund is an important link for the museum to focus research and build the collection and will support new exhibitions as we refresh our galleries over the coming years.
Ferry Well Refurbishment
The Museum would like to make a number of significant changes in order to meet building criteria to enable access to the area underneath the Lady Denman Ferry, known as the ferry well. This would enable visitors to view the ferry from a uniquely different perspective and also provide the opportunity to increase our exhibition space and provide a dynamic experience for visitors to the Museum.
The Jervis Bay Maritime Museum is always looking to develop our collection. Do you have a significant item of maritime heritage or maritime art? We are interested in objects, vessels, models, artwork, memorabilia and other items of historic significance that relate to the Jervis Bay area. Contact the Curator for further information:
